After watching the telecast for close to 4 hours..
All results for the constituencies are finalised.
As what I hoped to see..interesting results appeared in the four constituencies. Some of them are expected..
Hougang: Workers' Party won again! Low Thia Kang wins by a bigger margin with 62.74% of the votes against PAP. Again, comparing to the previous election in 2001, the percentage increased greatly by about 8% from 54.98%.
Potong Pasir: Chiam See Tong of Singapore Democratic Alliance (SDA) retained his seat, winning 55.84% of the votes, a close margin to the PAP. However, compared to the previous election in 2001, the percentage was up by a 3% from 52.43%.
Aljunied: Though Workers' Party didn't manage to win. But it was a great fight! 43.92% against 56.08%. Work harder for the next five years, and they might get their desired results.
Ang Mo Kio: The "Daring Team" against the "PM Team". Considering how young the candidates, Workers' Party has sent, and they managed to clinch 33% of the votes. It was a good one, I think! A test of his popularity..Huh..when he did mention that he will be likely to gain 80% votes in his constituency. (*roll eyes*)
Other constituencies do not have much to say about, because they are lead by Ministers who are very influential, and the Opposition parties do not have good candidates to fight against them.
Overall, PAP won 82 out of 84 seats in the Parliament. And achieved a 66.6% of all valid votes from the people. 666...Sounds familiar? Do you know what it symbolise? I'm not going to say much..Otherwise in the morning some police officers might knock on my door.. Really, it does sounds so eerie to me..so coincidence..(*shiverz*)
From 75% in 2001..they dropped to 66.6%..this result definitely mean something for them to ponder about. And Workers' Party achieved from 2% in 2001 to 16%, this result really give them more encouragements to strive and work harder for Singaporeans. SDA has an increase of 1% from 12% in 2001. Not bad.
Anyone notice something? Media are practicing self-censorship. No interviews or much coverages were done on the Opposition parties. During the 'prime time' (10pm - 1am), most coverages were for the PAP..Only after the whole results were released, now..1.40am then I began to see interviews of Opposition parties. Mind you..these interviews were actually done during the midst of announcing the results! And the Media decided to broadcast it at this TIME, when there are less viewers, and most supporters at the Yio Chu Kang Stadium had left..
Everything is over? No. This is just the beginning. We shall see what will happen within the next 5 years. Please prove your ability to do what you guys promise to Singaporeans.
Too bad, I will not get to vote unless I move away from my district. And to those people who keep requesting for lift upgrading..at every storey. I think my block shall deserve it too! Though its only four storey high, but as the people living in this block get older, like my parents...are they going to keep climbing up and down the stairs? SIghz.
The night is still young..and nobody talks to me today. Abit sad.
